About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Health and Safety Officer for a large commercial project in West London. The candidate will be a self-starter who has the drive, determination and capability to maintain and improve our Health and Safety systems. The ideal candidate must act as a role model for M.B McNamara Construction in ensuring that the highest standard of Health and Safety is implemented throughout the project. This is a stand-alone role with the candidate reporting to Senior Management.


Health and Safety Officer Responsibilities

  • Deliver H&S Inductions to new employees and new contractors on site.
  • Review, update and improve if necessary current H&S processes and procedures.
  • Carry out regular site H&S Audits and participate in any site meetings as required.
  • Ensure all legislative requirements are documented, reviewed and training is carried out.
  • Liaising with the HSE for site inspections or any legislative requirements such as notifications, accident/incident reporting etc. in consultation with Senior Management.
  • Deliver site safety inductions
  • Investigate, record and report any incident or accidents on site and report to Head Office
  • Actively involved in drafting and advising Management on method statements, risk assessments and participate in any H&S safety requirements in company tendering process.
  • Ensure Subcontractors safety documentation is reviewed and on site.



  • Manage all Health and Safety site administration requirements such as first aid box supplies, PPE, equipment training, updating and filing of certificates.
  • Maintain training records of all site personnel.
  • Have first-hand knowledge and experience with ISO9001, 14001 and 18001 and to assist with audits and liaise with external auditors.


Desirable Skills/Attributes for Health and Safety Officer

  • Third level qualification in Health and Safety and a Member of IOSH.
  • Have at least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge and experience with ISO9001, 14001 and 18001.
  • Previous experience managing safety on site.
  • Willingness to show initiative and drive in addition to being a team player.
  • Experience in the construction industry a distinct advantage.
  • Must be IT proficient in terms of the full Microsoft Office Suite.
